Climate Change

Global climate change is likely to entail significant social, environmental and economic costs. The effects of climate change include rising sea levels and increased frequency of extreme weather events which impact on key eco-systems upon which we all depend.

The production of greenhouse gases, including carbon dioxide, is contributing to climate change. A vast amount of power is used to sustain activities in homes, businesses, industry and transport, much of which relies on the combustion of fossil fuels which releases large volumes of greenhouse gases that exacerbate climate change.

Modern wind turbines are widely considered to be the most cost effective of the currently available technologies for the large scale production of power from renewable sources. The UK is the windiest country in Europe and the deployment of wind farms could contribute significantly to renewable energy targets which aim to assist in combating climate change.
